My Story: Finding Natural Wellness

Many years ago, I began studying Taiji (Tai Chi). Six years ago, I discovered Grand Master Nan Lu and his Dragon's Way Qigong® program. Qigong is believed to be the "grandmother" of Taiji. The basic concept underlying both martial arts and Traditional Chinese Medicine is that we all have Qi (chee), which is our vital energy life force. Qi travels over invisible meridians in our bodies, and it maintains organ function, builds our immunities, and provides for our general health and well-being. It is also our consciousness and is the communication link between and among all things. Keeping our Qi at its highest and best level is an essential part of  Traditional Chinese Medicine and Dragon's Way Qigong®. To learn more about Qi, please read "The Miracle of Qi," a short article by Grand Master Lu in Qi Encyclopedia.

Grand Master Lu is an accomplished doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, receiving his degree from Hubei University in China. He is also the author of several books, teacher, musician, master herbalist, acupuncturist, and Qigong Grand Master. He is the founder of the Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation and the Tao of Healing Center in New York City. His teaching lineage can be traced back to Lao Tzu.

Grand Master Lu's master, Tai Master Xi Hua Xu, an extraordinary teacher and healer, mentored him for over 30 years and collaborated with him to develop several programs like Dragon's Way Qigong and Wu Ming Qigong for Breast Health.  At the time of his death this year, Master Xu was one of the highest level Qigong masters in China. Also, in his early years, Grand Master Lu was chosen to study martial arts by Master Wan Laisheng, one of the "Five Tigers of the North," a Kung Fu master who developed the Taoist "natural style" or "no form" style of martial arts. In 1997, Master Lu competed in the Sixth International World Cup Championship, where he was named one of the top 10 Taiji masters in the world.

I continue to study with Grand Master Lu twice weekly and attend his retreats throughout the year. I recently concluded his three-month course on "The Consciousness of the Five Elements," to better understand this concept for my wellness and to enhance my classes. My practice has made me stronger and happier, and I am proud to be a Dragon's Way Qigong® Certified Instructor in Grand Master Lu's lineage.
